Water Softener System Scale Prevent Water Scale Descaler For Residential Appliances
What is a water softener?
Simply put, hard water is household water that contains high concentrations of dissolved minerals, specifically calcium and magnesium. Now, these minerals aren’t toxic and they don’t make water unhealthy to drink, or smell or taste funny, but they can be harmful just the same.
What is Hard Water?
Hard water has more minerals than soft water.
What is a Water Softener System?

How Water Softener Works
The principle behind water softeners is quite simple: calcium and magnesium ions in the water are replaced with more desirable ions, usually sodium. This exchange eliminates both of the problems of hard water because sodium does not precipitate out in pipes or react poorly with soap. The amount of sodium added to your water through this process is very small - less than 12.5 milligrams per 8-ounce (237-milliliter) glass - and is well below the standard set by the Food and Drug Administration for "very low sodium" [sources: Shep, U.S. Food and Drug Administration]. If you have health concerns, it is recommended that you discuss them with your doctor or consider using a different type of softener or only softening wash water.
Is Softened Water Safe to Drink?
Softened water is created by removing the minerals that cause hard water and replacing them with more desirable ions, such as sodium. Although a small amount of sodium is added during the softening process, it is not enough to be a significant source of dietary sodium. In fact, softened water still contains all the natural minerals that our bodies need, making it a healthy and safe option for drinking and cooking. Additionally, the removal of hard minerals can have benefits for household appliances and plumbing systems, as it reduces the buildup of mineral deposits that can cause damage over time.
